If you have walked around Seoul, you might have noticed the unbelievable number of apparently stray chairs that line its streets, waiting. Who put them there, and why? Does anyone sit on them? Is a chair still a chair if no one does?
Online learning is now the new normal and there are thousands of courses available online for just about every interest or subject. However, we noticed that there are slim pickings when it comes to courses about Korea or other subjects that we enjoy. After some hunting we discovered a few amazing online learning platforms designed for English speakers that teach you art, design, language and culture. We hope you like them as much as we do!
Female directors make up a stark minority in Korean cinema. Despite 59% of film students being women, 13% of female directors are represented in major film festivals and 2.5% in commercial releases. Poor industry support and ongoing gender bias inhibits the careers of aspiring young filmmakers, and often means working directors are undervalued. We hope to bring awareness to female directors in Korean cinema and celebrate their diverse body of work together.
