MISCHIEF's Fall/Winter 2017 collection was presented at GRND 0 (@grnd_0) in Apgujeong Rodeo. Upon reaching the entrance a line of well-dressed young women could be seen circling around toward the back of the building. Once inside, the energy escalated with DJs, HUKKY SHIBASEKI (@hukky_shibaseki) and MAALIB (@puppyradio), playing old-school hip hop remixes. Everyone in the crowd conversed with one another holding a pizza in one hand and a beer in the other, complimentary of the event by Laundry Pizza (@laundrypizza) and Monteith (@monteithskorea).
A live lookbook was shown on stage one outfit at a time, as the lights came on and off, a different model would appear next to the DJ with a camera projecting them onto the screen on the wall. Each model would add her personal charm by swaying to the music and turning to showcase all angles of the pieces.
"Music is one of our highest priorities as it is the best way to relay the collection's personality," explain the MISCHIEF designers, "We try to maximize the atmosphere through music by increasing the DJ's live performance, especially ending with a vocal artist."
The collection doesn't have a specific concept or title. Heavily influenced by social and cultural factors, as well as the music and provoking videos they come across, designers SEO and JUNG conveyed their lifestyle of the friends around them and the sharing of different cultures in a candid and natural way.
MISCHIEF’s Fall/Winter 2017 pieces ranged from oversized bomber jackets to basic long-sleeved shirts. Muted color palettes of beige and brown tones complimented red and navy. The MISCHIEF logo is easily spotted throughout the collection, as well as a mixture of prints, including stripes, houndstooth, and plaid on different materials of satin, velvet, and knits. As much as MISCHIEF is known for their athleisure pieces, there are also many classic pieces such as trousers and button ups which added a youthful school look to the sportswear collection.
Just like the seasons before, MISCHIEF cast a group of real female creatives to model their collection, many of whom you can follow on Instagram, like @jennifer_cee and @jade.haus. SEO and JUNG mentioned that instead of using professional models that are typical of fashion shows, they wanted to show the raw and natural image of MISCHIEF by using friends and artists around them.
To end the presentation, up and coming musician CIFIKA (@cifika_) performed an electronic track with a melody that supported her soothing voice. Signed by Third Culture Kids, CIFIKA often incorporates genres like R&B, electronic, and low-fi to create a unique perspective into her own genre of music.
